Trauma Therapy
Trauma is not an event but how your nervous system and body interpret what happened to you during a stressful time or over a series of multiple times. Our nervous system codes information about what we went through in narratives such as as safe vs unsafe, loveable vs unloveable, smart vs not smart, etc. Trauma therapy can help with feeling trapped by a trauma’s narrative about you or the world you live in.
I mostly use EMDR, Somatic Experiencing and IFS or parts therapy.
Difficult Family Relationships
Unfortunately, you don’t get to choose the life or family you are born into. If you struggle with a difficult family relationship, I’m so sorry. I know just how impactful & straining a difficult family relationship can be on many different aspects of a person’s life. Fortunately, you do get to choose how you want to live your life moving forward and therapy can be a first stop to reclaiming your life back again in a slow-paced, judgment-free environment.
Perinatal Mental Health
Perinatal mental health is a term that encompasses all stages of pregnancy and postpartum: including trying to conceive, pregnancy loss, and birth trauma. The perinatal period of time is a sensitive time for many women and deserves to be treated by a trained professional who specializes in perinatal mental health. I have earned all training hours towards my PMH-C and as a mom of 2 who has experienced loss and made it through the other side of postpartum, I would be honored to support you on your journey
ADHD
If you struggle with ADHD symptoms but aren’t ready to try medication, or would like to try therapy in conjunction with ADHD medication, ADHD therapy may be helpful for you. ADHD therapy is more than just someone listing off tips or “hacks” or a treatment plan towards “fixing” your ADHD. For many women diagnosed with ADHD, especially those diagnosed later in life, ADHD therapy can involve unpacking a lot of internalized shame, unpacking what you thought you knew about yourself, & reclaiming your identity. ADHD is not something that needs to be fixed moreover, it is usually an issue around undoing other people’s perceptions of you/ADHD. As someone diagnosed with ADHD in college, my goal is not to judge or fix but to support you as you reclaim parts of yourself you may have lose along the way.
“I underestimated how hard it would be adjusting to postpartum. Working with Sara, I never felt judged and I was able to process a lot of my fears, navigate stressors, and most importantly, find my voice as a new mom.”
